Strengthening National Cyber Resilience in The Gambia
As digital transformation accelerates across governments, institutions, and economies, cybersecurity is no longer optional — it is a national priority. Protecting Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) has become essential to ensuring continuity, resilience, public trust, and national security in an increasingly interconnected world.
In The Gambia, an important step toward strengthening national cyber resilience is currently underway through the validation of key deliverables under the national consultancy on Cybersecurity Management and Protection of Critical Information Infrastructure.
Under the coordination and technical implementation support of Qualisys Consulting, the Directorate of Cyber Security at the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (MoCDE) is hosting a five-day validation workshop at the NAQAA Conference Hall in Bakau. The workshop focuses on reviewing and validating strategic instruments designed to strengthen national preparedness, response coordination, and cybersecurity governance across critical sectors.
The consultancy forms part of the World Bank-funded WARDIP Programme and directly supports the implementation of The Gambia's National Cybersecurity Policy, Strategy and Action Plan 2022–2026.

"The success of these phases depends on collective will. The government must lead, but it cannot secure the nation alone. The private sector, regulators, standards bodies, academia, and civil society must commit to a sustained partnership."
The Director of Cybersecurity at MoCDE, Mr. Sanusi Drammeh, highlighted that the process aligns with the strategic pillars of the National Cybersecurity Policy 2022–2026 and reaffirmed the importance of stakeholder collaboration. Representing WARDIP, Project Coordinator Mr. Sering Omar Lowe also stressed the importance of inclusive stakeholder participation to ensure the instruments adequately reflect sector-specific realities and national priorities.
